Empowering Afghanistan's Youth
Afghanistan is currently facing one of the most challenging periods in its history. The economic collapse, coupled with ongoing instability, has left millions struggling to survive. Among those most affected are young men, many of whom find themselves without direction or hope for the future. In a country where opportunities are scarce, these young boys are vulnerable to the dangers of the streets, including the pervasive opioid trade that has taken root in their communities.
To address this urgent need, the Young Men's Vocational Center in Kandahar, dedicated to equipping boys with valuable tailoring skills, was inaugurated on August 25th, 2024. Through a six-month intensive training program, these young men are not just learning to sew; they are gaining the tools and confidence needed to forge a better future for themselves and their families.
The clothing they create will be sold locally, with the potential to reach national and international markets, offering them a sustainable income and a sense of pride in their work.

Currently, the center supports 10 participants, providing them with the skills and opportunities that can change the trajectory of their lives. However, the demand for this training is immense, reflecting the broader need for initiatives that empower young people in Afghanistan.
Shared Humanity USA needs your support in raising critical funds to expand the Young Men's Vocational Center, which provides essential tailoring skills to vulnerable boys in Afghanistan.
Currently, we have 10 students and 10 sewing machines, but the demand is overwhelming—there is already a waiting list of 50 more young men eager to join the program. To meet this need, we require 50 additional sewing machines and 5 more teachers to provide the necessary training. Your support will help empower these young men with the skills to build a brighter future for themselves and their families.
